Dear DWNM:

Here we are just four months away from the most important election day of our lifetime!  We truly must elect our Democratic candidates and change the direction of our country!  Together we cannot fail!

There has been a lot of talk about being united.  After the past eight years of the George Bush Administration, I do believe that he has done as much as anyone can do to motivate us to become united.  Under no circumstances can we allow for the Bush policies to continue. 

The parade season begins with all the Fourth of July celebrations.  There will also be county fair, fiesta and ceremonial parades.  Don’t miss these opportunities to show unity and strength in our party by joining together and marching in the parades in your community.   Every opportunity counts just like every single vote counts, stay energized and don’t miss any opportunity to show what we can do together. 

There will be opportunities to canvass.  Check with your County Chair to assist with your local canvassing and party activities.  We must show our party is stronger than ever.  Let’s support our 2008 candidates who are committed to the same issues that matter to us.

Congratulations to all the delegates who will be representing us at the Democratic National Convention.  What an exciting time they will have.  I know they will represent us well and come back to New Mexico with stories to share.  We are working on the possibility for women to travel to Denver who are not delegates but may want to be engaged in the event.  As we work out the possibilities we will soon advise what the strategy will be and if it is do-able.  The sleeping rooms are the anticipated problem as far as we know at this time.

We have set a date for the Democratic Women of New Mexico’s State Conference to be held on October 11^th, 2008 in Socorro.  Mark your calendar and plan to attend.  Don’t forget, to send your nominations in for Outstanding Democratic Woman Elected Official and Young Democratic Women.  There will be a newsletter with more information following in the next couple of months.
