Dear Democratic Women of New
Mexico:
Big congratulations Democratic Women of
New Mexico, for pulling off the most unique and motivating
National Federation of Democratic Women’s Conference ever
held! Who would
think that we could take $1000.00 in seed money and turn it
into a memorable and energizing experience for women, but we
did it! Women
today have a wide range of interest and concerns for
protecting our families, but with all the resources we had,
we presented a weekend that covered something for
everyone.
The keynote speakers and workshop
presentations by the women, who call New Mexico home, were
definitely the highlight of this event! We have had feedback on
how energized and ready to get involved our women are now
that they have been motivated by the great lineup of
talented women who gave us valuable insight for us to
ponder. We can
boast that our organization created substantial benefits for
those who attended the NFDW
Convention
We have much to be grateful for in this
place we call, The Land of Enchantment” and you just cannot
go wrong by choosing New Mexico as a site to visit, plan an
event or National Convention. The people and the places
are symbolic of the spirit and the power that can come from
our blue skies, mountains, mesas and vast
landscapes. We
are so appreciative of the women who worked so hard and
prepared tours, meals and events that showcased our great
State.
It was inspiring to have Alice
Germond, Secretary of the DNC and Sharon Grosfeld, Executive
Director for the Women’s Leadership Forum at the DNC take
time to come to New Mexico. What great examples they are of
being effective leaders for our Party. I can just imagine
how often they have to step outside their comfort zone to
take on new and fresh ideas as they work towards solving
effective policies for women’s issues and our
Party.
All of this could not have been
accomplished if it had not been for our great contributors,
organizations, candidates, elected officials and
sponsors. We
are grateful for those who recognize that women do count and
our concerns are their concerns. Please refer to our donor
page and should you have the opportunity, please thank them
for their support.
I kid you not, on June 1st,
2008, it felt like we won the Super Bowl and we deserved a
trip to Disney World! Never before had I experienced
personally how a group of women can come together and work
for a common cause. Unity is a big word for this election,
and the NFDW Convention that the DWNM just recently produced
is an example of how our
members “walk the talk”.
A heartfelt thanks, to all of those who
attended and who helped us with the success of this
production.
Very sincerely,
Kathy Duffy, President
Democratic Women of New
Mexico
